Sellers

I cowboyed with Rusty for almost 4 years before she moved back to Nevada.
During that time she successfully marketed and sold several ranch and roping
horses for me. She truthfully represents the horse and gets the right people
connected to the right horse so that all parties involved are happy when the
deal is done. If you are looking to sale or buy a horse, give Rusty a call and
she will get the job done for you. I highly recommend her marketing
services.

To Whom it may concern;
I bought Panda, a six year old Paint mare in September of 2009 sight unseen. I put
a deposit on her and she was delivered to my house. I love her!! She is a very
kind horse and follows me around like a puppy. When I called Rusty I explained to her
that I hadn’t ridden in 30 years and was a little nervous around horses now. I told
her I needed a calm horse that will stand for me to get on and take me on a
quiet, uneventful ride. Panda does just that and was very truthfully represented.
Thank you Rusty for such a great horse.

To Fellow Horse-minded Individuals,
I have purchased two horses from Rusty Martin. She was able to identify and meet my needs in both instances. She first provided me with a green 3 year old filly (shown in picture) that had a solid foundation, a good mind, and that I could complete training as I wished. I have been very satisfied with her over the past three years and believe that much of her willingness comes from the solid start that she received.
The second horse that we purchased from Rusty was a ten year old ranch gelding to be ridden by my mother and 10 year old son. Rusty was honest about his background, very willing to answer any questions that we had, and honestly assessed the horses fit with his intended riders.
I believe that if you are looking for a solid horse that is presented at face value then Rusty is a great resource. She tells her buyer what they are and are not getting and truly seems to want to find you both the horse that you want and that fits your abilities.

Horse Training References

The first time we met Rusty, we were looking to buy a family horse that was good and broke. She had a paint horse that we really liked, so long story short we came home with a new horse. Six months later I contacted her about re-training my papered quarter horse (that had been “professionally trained”), she still had bucking and pull-back issues. She agreed to take her on and fixed a few other problems along the way. When we got her back she was truly professionally trained horse. A couple of years later, we once again called her up about our newly acquired halter broke 6yr old stud. We wanted him broke, and knowing what she was capable of, she was the first person we asked. He is now the perfect little mountain horse. As we were picking him up I asked her if she would be willing to take on a baby draft, and although hesitant she agreed. Well, things in life happen and we weren’t able to take her out until a year later. In the end we got her out there, it took a little longer due to the character of a draft. About a week after we got her home our 6year old daughter was riding her. So simply stated, four out of four is 100%. We are very pleased with all our horses and all thanks to Rusty. So if you are looking for a recommendation for a horse trainer you will not go wrong with Rusty. Please, if you have any questions the number is at the bottom…

My brother and I, with our families, run a 6000 head backgrounding winter lot in Central Alberta. We also have 700 mother cows.
Rusty worked with us for one year through a calving season and a winter in the feedlot. She was in charge of calving cows, pen checking and processing weaned calves in the fall. If Rusty wasn't at the processing chute, she was on a horse. I saw her start colts and her main horse was a six year old that she had trained.
We have been involved with steer wrestling, calf roping and cutting horses. The secret to a good horse is a good start. Rusty puts colts to work with cattle in whatever country they're in. In our case it was snow, mud and semi-rough summer range. She takes her horses slow, but they have also got a job to do. Rusty is a good hand that puts a foundation on a horse they will never forget.

Our family has known Rusty Martin for about 8 years. We have
bought several trained horses from her, and have also sent colts to her and
problem horses to be retrained. You can tell when you are riding a
"Martin"trained horse. There is a difference between a broke horse and one that
is trained properly. The horses that we bought from Rusty, or the
ones we got back from training were horses that you knew would get the job done.
Whether you were roping at branding, doctoring, moving cattle, sorting calves or
bulls off of a herd, or just doing a routine 25 mile ride checking range, these
horses did the job! A horse with a calm mind, eager to work, and that is handy
makes a cowhands life a happy one!
We sent our stallion "Sassys Shamen" to her as a long 2 year old. Rusty put 45
days on him and the day after he came home I was working cattle on him. He came
home doing things you "expect" a trained horse to do. Moving up to open gates,
side passing, backing, working cattle in sorting pens, being crowded and bumped
and staying calm. He was also familiar with and able to work in a variety of
grounds in our area. Whether mud, bog, bush, meadows, crossing creeks or rivers,
or moving quickly and decisively through thick jackpine - he did it all with
confidence. He could work alone or along side other horses. He came home with
manners and is a pleasure to ride and work.
We also use our "Martin trained horses" at gymkana's and rodeo's. We do not
have different horses for different jobs. They are just well trained and we can
use them anywhere, for any job. They go in and do the job asked of them, and do
it well. No nonsense, no excitement, no fighting. Then the next day they're back
working at the ranch
These horses get out and work in the real world and are not just worked in a arena and
sent home to you. I believe the reason these horses work so well is because a
good foundation is put on them. There is no rushing the job, no gimmicks, just
good ole horse training and lots of miles and wet saddle blankets. Real horses
doing real jobs. Being able to read a horses mind and knowing what that horse
needs, to become a good using horse is a gift that so many of us wish we had,
but don't. I think that Rusty has that gift and I highly recommend
them from personal experience and use of her horses.

On approximately May 15, 2003, I took 3 mustangs to Rusty to be trained.
These horses had come off the range in February and were part of the Dann
Sisters herd. They had never been handled other than when we gelded the 2
stallions. At that time we wormed them and put halters on them. We did a little
handling with them, but basically they were still wild.
Rusty did a wonderful job, we picked these horses up on July 26, 2003. Took them home and
rode them. One of the owners is a unexperienced rider and he rode his horse with
little problem. I use to train A system AQHA and Appaloosa horses and was very
impressed. The other two were wonderful. The gelding which will be a full fledge
ranch horse, ridden by all the hands, is great. He is just like a hand raised
horse. My mare, who was the wildest, is wonderful. I just took her on a 20 mile
ride pushing over 100 cows and calves by myself. She did everything I asked with
no problems.
Due to Rusty's changing living arrangements I couldn't take the three
remaining mustangs to her, but I would in a heartbeat if it were possible. My
boss who has been a Nevada Rancher for 70 years is also very impressed with the
horses, and would also like to send her more if it were possible.
Thank you for a excellent job done Rusty, I will treasure Angel all the more,
thanks to you.

Day Working

To whom it may concern:
It is our sincere pleasure to recommend Rusty Martin for her horse and ranch related endeavors. Rusty has carved a unique niche for herself in a lifestyle that, even in this day and age, is dominated by men. As we raise, train, and sell horses, and work on ranches ourselves, we recognize good work and integrity when we see it in our field. Rusty has marketed horses for us in the past, and has done it in a professional and dedicated manner, making sure that the needs of both buyer and seller were met. We’ve also had the pleasure of working with Rusty, and can say with confidence that she not only knows her way around a branding pen, but also has strong working knowledge of cattle, and completes her duties with efficiency and skill tempered by a woman’s touch. We wish Rusty the best of luck in her pursuits, and are completely confident in her ability to succeed.

I have employed Rusty on several occasions for cowboy work. During her employment she has calved
out several thousand head of heifers and has been responsible for several large groups of cattle. Rusty is a dedicated worker and does things right.
Rusty was an asset to our operation. One of her strengths is that she can work alone and get things done.
Rusty has a talent with horses, and I could always depend on her to get her assigned work done for the day.
She has cowboyed in all types of weather conditions, landscapes, camp jobs, ranch crews, all over the states and Canada for over 25 years. Because of these experiences, I trust her judgments and work ethics and would highly recommend Rusty.
